The mission of the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute, Incorporated (MEI) is to assist entrepreneurs in reaching their business dreams through culturally relevant education, bilingual consulting, and technical assistance in the areas of digital marketing, business development and sales, and chief financial officer functions including taxation strategies, financial analysis, and consulting.

About Our President

Dr. Nelson Soler, Ph.D., MBA, MS, EA, EDFP, is a distinguished entrepreneur, educator, and community leader based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born into poverty in Puerto Rico, he has dedicated his career to empowering underserved communities through entrepreneurship and education.

Dr. Soler has founded multiple organizations, including the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI) and the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeastern Wisconsin. Under his leadership, these organizations have facilitated the formation of over 6,200 enterprises in Wisconsin and provided more than $2.1 million in loans, grants, and technical assistance to at-risk businesses .

In academia, Dr. Soler serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, teaching courses in entrepreneurship, accounting, nonprofit management, and marketing

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an MBA and a Master’s in International Business and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Ph.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University .

Dr. Soler’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the United States Small Business Administration Award for Wisconsin in 2007, Chamber Executive of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2009, and the Community Business Development Award by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation in 2018. In 2025, he was honored as a Titan 100, recognizing his status as a top CEO and C-level executive .

Through his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to economic empowerment, Dr. Nelson Soler continues to be a catalyst for positive change, fostering growth and development within the Latino community and beyond.
